Meaghan Roberts is an Australian artist specialising in pet and wildlife portraits. Born in New South Wales in 1990 Meaghan spent most of her childhood in country Australia, rich with native wildlife and farm animals. Her artistic process started on her family farm in country New South Wales. Here she would draw endlessly; filling sketch books with page after page of drawings. Meaghan pursued her passion underpinning it with a Bachelor of Fine Art, Diploma, and Master of Fine Art and Design in 2012. During her time at University Meaghan focused her attention on a more contemporary style of work with abstracted highly vibrant paintings. Whils

"Sitting in the suns rays my eyes attention is caught by a sudden yet small movement between a pile of rocks. I remain still eager to see what emerges. Between two small rough rocks hidden in darkness emerges a delicate timid lizard. So wary of it's surrounding it flinches at the slightest sound or vibration. Slowly step by step it protrudes further from the shadows, braving a bright day. Remaining still I observe this creatures curiosity. Millimetre by millimetre it moves forward tilting it's head side to side. Careful of any movement. Sensing no present danger it stops, flattens itself out to absorb as much of the suns rays as possible and

For me art is a way of escaping into a world void of hatred, deceit, pain and suffering. I'm emerged in the process that everything outside my studio just seems to fade away. Only peace and tranquility remain while I paint. It's almost like being in a bubble. Contained within are the things that matter most, a surface to draw or paint, a means to paint on that surface, and inspiration. Whilst my inspiration often comes from the outside world I find that those moments that inspire me are remembered somewhere important and follow me back to that peaceful bubble for creating.
